CVR Test Operator/Tester Training

New CVR Test Operator and CVR Tester applicants will be required to undergo training relevant to their authorisation. Here you will find further information on these training requirements.

Training requirements for new CVR Test Operators & CVR Testers.

Any CVR Test Operator or CVR Tester applying for a new authorisation will be required to undergo initial training which will include:

Initial HCV Training Course ​for CVR Testers 10 Days​
Initial ​LCV Training Course for CVR Testers ​7 Days
Initial Combined HCV & LCV Training Course for CVR Testers ​ 12 Days​
​Initial ADR Training Course for CVR Testers ​4 Days
​Initial Tractor Testing Training Course for CVR Testers  4 Days​
Initial CVR Test Operator Training Course ​ 2 Days ​
CVR Administration Course ​ 2 Days ​

Training requirements following authorisation as CVR Test Operator & CVR Testers.

Following initial authorisation existing CVR Test Operators and CVR Testers will be required to complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training. The training will consist of a mix of practical and theoretical learning and will include:-  

​Course Duration​
​HCV CPD Training course for CVR Testers 1 day per year
LCV CPD Training course for CVR Testers 1/2 day per year
ADR CPD Training course for CVR Testers 1 day every second year

​Corrective training may be required for CVR Test Operators and CVR Testers who do not obtain satisfactory marks in mandatory training courses or whose testing performance is found to fall below required standards during supervision.

Who provides the training?

Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) has been awarded the training concession contract by the RSA to deliver this training. It is intended that the training will be run on a number of different dates during the year at different locations around the country. All fees will be paid directly to TUS. Please contact the TUS for further information.

What are the training fees?

The training fees per attendee are as follows.

​Initial HCV Training Course for CVR Testers ​€1,900 per attendee
​Initial LCV Training Course for CVR Testers ​€1,550 per attendee
​Initial Combined HCV & LCV Training Course for CVR Testers ​€2,280 per attendee
Initial ADR Training Course for CVR Testers ​ ​€1,135 per attendee
Initial Tractor Testing Training ​Course for CVR Testers ​€1,430 per attendee
​Initial CVR Test Operator Training Course ​€435 per attendee
Tester Assessment Course for CVR testers €1,375 per attendee
CVR Administration Course €435 per attendee

All fees will be paid directly to Technological University of the Shannon (TUS)
